Historic Petition to End Misleading Food Labelling to be Presented at Parliament

We are delighted to announce that our petition calling for clear and enforceable vegan and vegetarian food labelling will be formally handed over to Steve Abel, Green List MP, whose portfolio includes Food Safety, on Wednesday, 26th March, at midday. The petition will subsequently be presented to Parliament.

Misleading and unclear labelling practices are widespread, leading to consumer confusion and undermining trust. This petition aims to introduce clear definitions and strict regulations for vegan and vegetarian product labelling, protecting consumer rights, enabling informed purchasing decisions, and safeguarding people with food allergies.

Event Details:
Date: Wednesday, 26th March
Time: 12:00 PM (midday)
Location: Parliament Grounds, Wellington (Seddon Statue area and front lawn behind the barriers)

Come and show your support! The petition will be handed over by Claire Insley (Vegan Society of Aotearoa) and Ina Babic (New Zealand Vegetarian Society).

Your presence matters – join us in advocating for transparent labelling, consumer protection, and ethical food choices across Aotearoa New Zealand.
